U: By Design inspires future leaders and problem-solvers in design

With generous support from Scotiabank, and in partnership with the Interior Designers of Canada Foundation, the U: By Design Studio Workshop developed by Decanthropy and led by past IDC President, Ian Rolston, will be hosted in April.

The program supports underrepresented youth 8-12 years old to develop a vision for their future by engaging participants in design thinking and how to apply the process to creating everyday spaces, as well as action plans for life.

The equity-focused workshop introduces underrepresented communities to the interior design profession to inspire the next-generation of industry professionals.

The workshop will be hosted at the CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals, a charity dedicated to addressing economic and social barriers affecting Black youth in the GTA. For over a decade, CEE has provided workforce development, education, and advocacy programs. With more than a thousand young people graduating since the centre’s inception, CEE partnerships, curriculum standardization, and support have been vital in achieving the organization’s mission.
