testimonials

“What a fascinating, interdisciplinary gathering that exceeded expectations.”

Michael Ungar, Ph.D. Resilience Research, Centre at Dalhousie University, Halifax

“I was very pleased that the Impact Summit chose to focus on timely themes of diversity, culture, migration and refugee mental health for their 2017 conference.”

Lisa Andermann, M.D., Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

“The multidisciplinary panels and keynotes offered a wonderful and comprehensive diversity of takes on urban migration issues. Combining Canadian, American, and other world views of social and environmental challenges created a rich dialogue. While there is no one-size-fits-all solution, it became clear that are some commonalities on how design at all scales can play a significant role in creating a culture of inclusivity.”

Jon Penndorf, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Associate, Perkins + Will

“IDC and ASID are to be commended for their foresight in expanding beyond the design community and bringing together professionals from the various design disciplines, planning and development, governments, not-for-profits, research and academia from across North America and Europe.”

Kay Brenders, VP, Newcomer Services and Workforce Development at WoodGreen Community Services

“I highly enjoyed participating in the 2017 Impact Summit. The session topic provided a great opportunity to discuss the role planners, designers, and our institutions play in creating inclusive spaces for culturally diverse communities!”

Habon Ali, M.Sc.PI, Associate, PMP, Urban Strategies Inc.

“From start to finish this rare event presumed a commitment to honesty, shared risk and sincere exploration…. Senator Ratna Omidvar set the tone and inspired a sequence of dialogues grappling with design for inclusion as a choice made well only if listening.”

Valerie Fletcher, Executive Director, Institute For Human Centered Design
