Event Details

What drives furniture decisions in the commercial built environment? Key attributes are: Aesthetics, Quality, Craftsmanship, Safety, Performance, Health & Wellness, Sustainability, and Verification. In this course BIFMA, the industry’s trusted voice for commercial furniture, will dive into each of these topics to explain their influence on the decision-making process for furniture in contract environments.

Who Should Attend

A&D professionals, LEED and WELL Accredited Professionals, facility managers (satisfies IFMA CFM maintenance requirements), corporate real estate professionals (approved toward pursuit of CoreNet Global QPCR designation), customers, furniture dealers, and anyone influencing furniture selection.

What Will Be Covered

  1. Understand the importance of original design, process controls in manufacturing, construction methods and how this impacts safety.
  2. Recognize how furniture contributes to the health and wellness of occupants including chemical exposure and ergonomics.
  3. Evaluate important dimensions of planetary health, and the sustainability attributes associated with common materials.
  4. Examine relevant certification schemes and how they contribute toward safety, wellness and sustainability of furniture products.

Jennifer Wammack, Outreach & Learning Director

Jennifer Wammack is BIFMA’s Director of Outreach, a role created in 2017 to enhance engagement with influencers of the commercial built environment. Since that time, Jennifer has been the organization’s brand ambassador, communicating BIFMA’s message as the industry leader in developing furniture safety, durability, and sustainability standards that ensure product performance and inspire confidence wherever people work, learn, heal, and play.

Jennifer holds a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Masters of Management in Sustainable Business from Aquinas College.
