If you are a creative professional struggling with promoting yourself and your work, you are not alone. Whether you’re a Registered graphic designer or Registered interior designer, there’s one main commonality—creativity. It can be quite the struggle being a creative individual and understanding the inner workings and benefits of marketing initiatives, best business practices and proper self promotion. Helping the public, potential clients or employers understand and employ your exceptional skills can feel like another battle in itself.

Advocacy can be a major component of creative professions and often if the public does not understand the major benefits of a profession, the advocacy body is falling short. It is the mandate of Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), a national advocacy body for the interior design profession, to raise the profession to new heights and help educate the public about what an interior designer does and how design impacts our daily lives.

Associations like IDC assist their members with professional developments programming such as webinars and in-person seminars designed to assist with strategy, business tips and social media marketing. Interior designers are meticulously trained, qualified, and skilled professionals, and IDC promotes the profession through public education, commitment to public safety and welfare, and by showcasing design excellence through the work of our members.
