PROpel is a national competition created exclusively for emerging leaders, providing the opportunity for engagement in discussions and connections with influential representatives in the interior design community. This year, the opportunity to engage and connect with designers in the industry will look a little different in light of the effects of the global pandemic. Instead, each participant will be announced as part of a promotional series on a weekly basis with a short profile published across IDC’s social media platforms, newsletters and honoured at the IDC Awards Celebration on September 23, 2020.

Congratulations to all 2020 Emerging Leaders Program participants!

A well designed and thoughtfully responsive space can improve mood, increase activity,
heighten productivity, and create community.
In any application, the value of design, and a designer, is the ability to see better paths to
improve the human experience.

Ally Darling-Beaudoin is a Canadian interior designer based in Ottawa, Ont. She is currently employed at 4té Inc., a third-generation local design firm where she creates and collaborates with clients across corporate, hospitality, residential, and retail sectors. Ally received her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design (Honours) in 2015, her NCIDQ certification in 2017, and her WELL AP certification in 2019. She has been a longstanding mentor in the interior design community, from providing critiques to interior design students, to working as a teaching assistant for Algonquin College’s Bachelor of Interior Design program, to teaching as an instructor for Algonquin College’s Interior Decorating program. She has always found the process of leadership and education to be enlightening, from both the student and teacher perspective. Outside of interior design, Ally spends her time attending local music events, backcountry camping and working on completing her graduate degree.
