In the association world, there’s an acronym for everything. We know it can get confusing, so we’ve put together this handy little cheat sheet to help!

IDC – Interior Designers of Canada
That’s us! We are your national association that advocates on your behalf, organizes professional development opportunities, and offers services and support to help you thrive in the industry.

IDCEC – Interior Design Continuing Education Council
They accredit the courses you take. They guide providers to ensure that you receive high-quality, educational sessions to gain the knowledge and skills essential to your personal growth and professional success. They also manage the reporting system used to log your hours.

They are your provincial associations that regulate the profession in each province. They set standards for membership, monitor professional development requirements and regulate adherence to the Code of Ethics and Practice Standards.

ASID – American Society of Interior Designers
They are the national association in the United States. IDC and ASID are working together on the 2017 Impact Summit in Toronto on May 8-9.

IIDA – International Interior Design Association
