ID Connections

What do certifications, product awards and industry events have in common?

IDC is pleased to report on the outcome of the first-ever IDC industry committee meeting, made up of manufacturers and suppliers, which took place on June 24.

The quarterly discussion group included 13 representatives from varying provinces, sectors and areas of specialization and was co-chaired by Andy Stilin (3M Architectural Markets), Director of Industry on the IDC Board and Jamie Shea, Director of Business Development at IDC.

The first meeting brought forth many ideas as to how IDC could find more ways to connect manufacturers and suppliers with practitioners in the interior design industry. The committee made the decision to explore the following four topics:

  1. To develop a formal mandate and terms for the committee;
  2. To develop an IDC certification program for manufacturers and suppliers;
  3. To create a national product awards program;
  4. And, to host local industry-specific events and to replicate them across the country on both an annual and semi-annual basis.

The committee will continue to meet in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more exciting news. If you are interested in being considered to participate in a sub-committee, please email Jamie Shea at jshea@idcanada.org.
