Two ways IDC is strengthening the profession

Published by Ignite Admin, February 17, 2015.

IDC is establishing two new discussion forums to help provinces come together on key issues related to the profession of interior design.

Through this regular dialogue, we hope to find ways to share ideas and documents, brainstorm strategies, and – in the process – discover how IDC can further support each province, and our national community as a whole.

“We all know the overall goal is greater recognition and stronger regulation of the interior design profession,” says Susan Wiggins, CEO at IDC. “Let’s support each other in achieving this goal across Canada!”

Susan, along with Kara MacGregor, Director at Large (NS) on the IDC Board, will co-chair a new discussion group on legislation and regulation. In an effort to strengthen the profession, this group of representatives from each province will provide updates about legislative and regulatory initiatives and share their approaches and challenges on the path to regulation.

A second forum, also chaired by Susan, will include membership administrators from each province and tackle issues such as membership administration challenges, alternative pathways, national and provincial standards, and reciprocity.

The first meeting date for both initiatives is February 20, 2015. We are excited about these new discussion groups and look forward to seeing how we can further unify our shared vision of the profession.
