Changes at IDC in 2016

Published by Sarah Bradbury, December 21, 2015.

IDC announced earlier this month that CEO Susan Wiggins will be leaving IDC at the end of the year to join ASID as their Senior Strategic Advisor.

Having dedicated that past 15 years to the interior design industry in Canada, Susan now reflects on some of her favourite memories that she will keep with her as she embarks on this new chapter in her life.

The day that ARIDO’s Practice Act was introduced in the Ontario Legislature for second reading and debate, history was made! Even though it didn’t cross the finish line, interior designers made their presence known.

Convincing seven provincial associations to unite as one, to come together and create national standards for the profession.

The night that APDIQ members voted unanimously to re-join IDC after an absence of several years strengthened IDC as the voice for interior design professionals in Canada.

Three years ago at IIDEXCanada in Toronto, IDC welcomed our newest and smallest association, Interior Designers of Newfoundland & Labrador (IDNL).

PROpel 2015, one of IDC’s most successful programs uncovered a hidden energy among emerging professionals.

Though we say goodbye to Susan, we also welcome Ron Hughes who was appointed Interim CEO last week. Having graduated from the interior design program at Ryerson, Ron’s career has included senior positions with Knoll, Inscape, Teknion and Interface.

Farewell and best wishes to Susan, and a warm welcome to Ron!
