Association trivia time!

In the association world, there’s an acronym for everything. We know it can get confusing, so we’ve put together this handy little cheat sheet to help!

IDC – Interior Designers of Canada
That’s us! We are your national association that advocates on your behalf, organizes professional development opportunities, and offers services and support to help you thrive in the industry.

IDCEC – Interior Design Continuing Education Council
They accredit the courses you take. They guide providers to ensure that you get high-quality, educational sessions to gain the knowledge and skills that are essential to your growth and success. They also manage the reporting system you use to log your hours.

They are your provincial associations that regulate the profession in each province. They set standards for membership, monitor professional development requirements and maintain adherence to the Code of Ethics and Practice Standards.

ASID – American Society of Interior Designers
They are the national association in the United States. IDC and ASID work together on the Impact Summit.

IIDA – International Interior Design Association
They are the commercial interior design association with a global reach, supporting design professionals across 58 countries. We partner with them to run the popular Leaders Breakfast series.

IFI – International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers
Often referred to as the “United Nations” of the architecture and design fields, they are the global voice and worldwide authority and organize World Interiors Day each year.
