IDC's 42nd Annual Meeting held at IDSwest in Vancouver

New for 2014, IDC's Annual Meeting was held at IDSwest in Vancouver, Friday September 26. This year, IDC also offered a satellite location in Toronto as well as a webinar where members could log in and watch the meeting live over the internet. At one time, a total of 136 members were logged in.

IDC Appoints New Representatives

IDC announced the appointment of seven new Directors to its Board of Management. The announcement took place at IDC’s Annual Meeting, held September 26 as part of IDSwest at the Vancouver Convention Centre. IDC welcomes incoming association President, Denis Chouinard of Desjardins Group in Lévis, QC.

As an involved, long-time member of APDIQ, Chouinard brings valuable association experience to his new role. “I am pleased to be taking on the role of IDC president,” says Chouinard. “I look forward to continuing to advance IDC’s mandate of promoting the profession of interior design locally, nationally and internationally.”

Having successfully completed her 12-month term as President, Ada Bonini of Bob’s Your Uncle Design Inc., Vancouver, BC, will assume the role of Past-President. Aandra Currie Shearer (Richmond, BC) of Kindrachuk Agrey Architecture moves into the 1st Vice-President position. Clinton Hummel of Paisley Park Inc., North Bay, ON has been named 2nd Vice-President.

IDC Bestows Prestigious Honours and Fellows Awards

Presented as part of IDC’s Annual Meeting at IDSwest in Vancouver, the awards are the highest level of membership granted by the Association. Fellow and Horary members are selected by IDC’s Board of Management in consultation with the Board of Governors.

A Fellow is a present or previous full member of the association who, through distinguished service, has contributed to the greater recognition of IDC, or of the profession. Fellowships were awarded to Victoria Horobin, principal, KBH Interior Design, in Toronto, ON, and Adele Bonetti, principal, Concetto Interior Design Ltd., in Grande Prairie, AB.

Honorary membership was presented to Susan Wiggins, CEO, Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), in Toronto, ON, for her contribution to the greater recognition or betterment of the interior design profession. Honorary memberships are awarded to those who have not practised interior design.
