Published by Alexandra Tichinoff, November 14, 2012.

Lois Weinthal has been appointed Chair of Ryerson School of Interior Design effective January 1, 2013.
As Chair of the School of Interior Design, Weinthal will be responsible for the management of the school’s academic and operational affairs and will work closely with faculty and staff in promoting research, scholarship, and continued excellence.  Weinthal will also work with designated faculty in the School of Interior Design, the Dean of FCAD and the School of Graduate Studies in exploring opportunities for graduate study programs.

Weinthal has been in the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, where she is currently an Associate Professor as well as Graduate Advisor for the Master of Interior Design Program.  From 2007 to 2008, Weinthal took a two-year leave from the University of Texas to take on the posts of Associate Professor and Director of the Interior Design Program at Parsons The New School for Design.  While in New York City, Weinthal co-organized a series of symposia for Parsons on the state of and issues shaping interior design entitled 'After Taste’. At the same time, she expanded her interdisciplinary interests and research by both curating an exhibition and co-organizing ‘Architecture Inside/Out’ with the Centre for Architecture and the AIA New York Chapter.

Weinthal is a registered Interior Designer (NCIDQ) and completed her Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and Bachelor of Architecture and Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.
