What’s Your Design Dilemma? consultations promote the profession

Published by Alexandra Tichinoff, October 30, 2012.

Promoting the interior design profession is one of IDC’s top priorities. One way we do so is through the popular What’s Your Design Dilemma? consultations, held at various trade shows across the country.

What’s Your Design Dilemma? offers members of the public free, 10 to 15-minute interior design consultations with an IDC member. More than just helping to pick paint colours and drapery treatments - the consultations are meant to give the public a quick overview of the scope of services that an interior designer can provide—IDC asks that in order to help solve design dilemmas, solution seekers should come prepared with floor plans and/or images of the space.

The ultimate goal of the consultations is to leave the public wanting more of your good advice and excited to reach out after the show to pay for interior design services. IDC records the contact information of each person in need of a design solution and provides the information to the interior designer at the end of each session for future follow-up. IDC also targets local media to notify the public about the upcoming opportunity to speak with an interior designer.

What’s Your Design Dilemma?
presents a wonderful opportunity for IDC members to promote your business and showcase your talents without giving away the solution.

IDC held What’s Your Design Dilemma? consultations most recently at the Interior Design Show West (IDS West) and will hold them next at the Interior Design Show in Toronto, January 24 to 27, 2013.
