IFI members define the interior design profession in historic signing

Published by Julia Salerno, April 27, 2011.

The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) was joined by more than 100 interior design professionals from more than 20 countries in New York City for the historic creation and signing of the Declaration that defines the interior design profession. IDC President, David Hanson and IDC Executive Director, Susan Wiggins participated in the Global Symposium, which involved two-days of discussions to explore the knowledge, value, relevance, responsibility, and identity of interior design that resulted in the creation of the declaration.

The ideas contained in the Declaration provide clear goals for and affect the fundamental understanding and shaping of the practice, its education and research, and for the outcomes required of our built environment in support of humanity, society and culture.

Watch the reading of the Declaration which took place as part of the IFI Global Symposium in February. This is the second video in the series Spotlight on Design. Declaration video footage was provided by IFI and is property of IFI.
