IDC proposes new guideline for Industry Mock-Up Standards

Published by Julia Salerno, February 27, 2012.

It is common practice for design firms to ask office furniture manufacturers to put together mock-up furniture models—most commonly workstations—for client review prior to finalizing an order. While the process for preparing mock-ups is acceptable and manufacturers are pleased to create them, IDC is recommending some industry guidelines around the process of requesting mock-ups. Namely, two main factors have contributed to the creation of these guidelines. First, the size of mock-up requests is increasing and second, several manufacturers are being asked to prepare mock-ups for one client. Read the Industry Mock-Ups Guidelines.

Through a series of meetings and discussions, IDC, along with several office furniture manufactures and senior interior designers from across Canada, have established the following guidelines. It is encouraged that you share these guidelines with employees and their clients when requesting mock-ups for projects.
