The Calgary Awards call for entries

Published by Julia Salerno, February 28, 2011.

The Calgary Awards, presented since 1994, honours individuals, community groups, schools, organizations, and corporations who have made a significant contribution to improving Calgary's quality of life.

The Award for Accessibility recognizes buildings or facilities in Calgary that have significantly exceeded the minimum requirements of Section 3.8, 'Barrier-Free Design' of the Alberta Building Code for accessibility by persons with disabilities. There are three eligibility criteria for the award:

• The building must be operated by an organization other than the City of Calgary

• The building/facility must have undergone construction, expansion or renovation within the past two years
• The building or portion thereof must have been issued a final occupancy permit by the City's Building Regulations Division
IDA is seeking your help to identify deserving individuals or groups, and encourage nominations for this year's awards. If you have been involved with such a project, or know of one, we encourage you to submit a nomination for this prestigious award.
