World Interiors Day showcases the design industry

Published by Rachael Factor, May 30, 2012.

Saturday, May 26 marked the annual global event, World Interiors Day (WID). Spearheaded by IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers), the event was created to highlight the merits of interior professions and their impact on quality of life and to enhance public knowledge and understanding about the profession. This year’s Canadian WID event was held in Montreal, as part of SIDIM, Mission Design and UNESCO City of Design. IDC’s executive director, Susan Wiggins along with Victoria Fellowes, IDC’s Director, Business Development with APDIQ president, André Lapointe attended the celebrations. The theme was “Finding the New in the Old.”

The purpose of WID is to actively engage professionals, design enthusiasts and the public at large to explore their creativity, imagination, vision and passion in recognition of the role of interior architecture/design in society. Last year marked the official adoption of World Interiors Day in Canada. As WID grows in scale and involvement each year, IDC would like to see a larger presence with events celebrating the Day held nation-wide. Stay tuned for more information on what IDC has planned for celebrating World Interiors Day 2013.
