Conquer your fear of public speaking

Published by Julia Salerno, June 29, 2011.

Does your heart race at the very thought of giving a client presentation? Do you clam up minutes before you're due to speak? You're not alone. Studies have shown that people fear public speaking more than anything else in life.

Creatively Speaking Toastmasters Club can help you learn how to communicate more effectively to existing and potential clients and can help you get ahead both professionally and personally. Join fellow ARIDO members for Creatively Speaking and learn how Toastmasters can help you. Toastmasters is an excellent tool for improving public speaking, listening, and leadership skills. You'll also learn how to effectively develop and present ideas, and gain the self-confidence to do so.

"Toastmasters helps me feel less stressed and more composed when speaking with clients, contractors, and suppliers," says Dolores Pian, a member of Toastmasters since March 2010. "Creatively Speaking has also helped me think quickly and clearly on my feet. It's also a lot of fun to listen to fellow members deliver speeches and rewarding to watch yourself grow more confident."

Join Creatively Speaking Toastmasters at their next meeting, Tuesday, July 5 at 6 p.m. at the ARIDO/IDC Headquarters in Liberty Village, at 43 Hanna Avenue in Toronto. By joining the club and attending the meetings, you will be able to hone the skills you need to make presentations and speeches, or simply communicate more effectively with clients and co-workers.

ARIDO members who join can collect up to a maximum of 12 CEU points per Professional Development cycle. To learn more about Toastmasters, or for a full meeting schedule, please contact jsalerno@idcanada.org, or click here.
