IDC reflects on another great year

On behalf of the IDC staff and Board, we would like to wish you a safe, healthy, and prosperous 2012!

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season behind us, we can now focus on what's in store for 2012: a new year with promises of improved programs and services and great ways for you to get involved. Before we embrace this new year, let's reflect on our accomplishments in 2011:

• APDIQ votes to become Full members (300 plus new members)
• First national Member Directory published
• New Staff position for IDCEC hired in Toronto, development of new model begins (funded by IDC, IIDA and ASID)
• Partnership with Air Canada's enRoute magazine provides IDC and IIDEX with full page ads in the September issue and identifies award-winning Canadian hotel designers
• IDC Industry membership attracts 275 companies
• Top 5 Under 5 Awards Program introduced for young professionals (Intern/Provisional members)
• New Mentor Centre section opens on IDC website
• IDC creates new member blog called Speakers Corner
• International trade missions to Denmark, Las Vegas, United Arab Emirates and India
• David Hanson, Susan Wiggins and Jenn Taggart attend the IFI General Assembly and the IDA Congress in Taipei to help promote Montreal's bid to host the congress in 2017. David Hanson, IDC's Past President elected to the IFI Board
• New monthly video series introduced as part of ID Connections
• National insurance policy limits increase to $500,000 minimum
• IDC responds to PWGSC request for comment on RFP for new management company
• IDC issues demographic survey to members; results to be published in early 2012
• IDC participates in NCIDQ Annual Meeting and Issues Forum meeting in Washington
• IDC introduces a bi-weekly Professional Development newsletter and Sponsorship newsletter
• IDC helps facilitate Table top shows in Victoria and Kelowna and introduces What's Your Design Dilemma? in Kelowna and Ottawa
• Hospitality Design launches at IIDEX with first Chair Hockey Tournament fundraiser raises over $27,000 for Ronald McDonald House Toronto
• IIDA/IDC Leaders Breakfast launches in Vancouver.
