NEW! IDC’s new intern postings will connect students with employers

Published by Candis Green, March 31, 2014.

Internships are a great way for students to gain the valuable work experience necessary to land their first full time job. While many of these opportunities are arranged through post-secondary interior design programs, we’ve learned from our student members that many are still responsible for finding their own placements.

To help our student members find internships and gain a better understanding of the industry in which they wish to work, IDC has created an internship feature on our Career Centre which will be launched on April 14. Employers will be able post internships opportunities for FREE, and the listings will receive an “internship” label so that they can be easily recognized by students.

Educators are excited about this new venture, as it provides students with an additional avenue to search for internships and co-ops outside of pursuing networking opportunities at shows like IIDEX Canada, or student events offered by IDC.

IDC’s director of education, Susanne Koltai, is eager to see how this new feature will benefit students across Canada –

As director, education for IDC, I would encourage all firms to participate. It is part of our social responsibility towards the youth and future of our profession.
