MASS Design in Milan

Published by Julia Salerno, March 28, 2012.

InterfaceFLOR, IDC and IIDA invite you to a presentation and cocktail reception featuring Alan Ricks, co-founder and chief operating officer of Boston-based MASS Design Group, winner of the 2012 Designer of the Year Award from Contract magazine.

Ricks will speak on the genesis, vision, and work of MASS, a not-for-profit design firm focused on designing, constructing, and advocating for buildings that improve health and strengthen communities in some of the most marginalized regions of the world.

Its first project, Butaro Hospital in Rwanda, completed mostly pro bono, has been the recipient of numerous design awards, has caught the attention of such dignitaries as President Bill Clinton, and serves as the young firm’s successful model for the transformative power of design.

MASS Design Group is on the forefront of the movement against social inequity in
the built environment by changing the way building occurs so that it has the most impact on communities, creates jobs, and trains a new generation of better architects and builders. Space is limited, so please RSVP by April 12, 2012.
