IDIBC awards Tom Park Bursary at AGM

IDIBC held their annual meeting May 28 at the Oceanic Plaza Towers in Vancouver.

Members of the association were presented with a review of past association activities as well as updates on future initiatives, welcomed new Board members for 2015 and enjoyed an informative CEU presentation on intellectual property. It was also at the IDIBC AGM that this year's recipient of the Tom Park Student Bursary was awarded.

Congratulations to Yvonne Littlewood who, through her involvement with IDIBC, IDSwest and AIBC, has demonstrated the leadership, dedication and devotion that was exemplified by Tom Park.

With a career that spanned more than four decades, Tom Park contributed a large part of his time to many design community events. Perhaps one of his biggest contributions to design in B.C. took place in the early 1980s. Tom was part of a small team that was instrumental in establishing the first Canadian chapter of Interior Business Designers (IBD). It was through these early efforts that today’s IDIBC members are able to write the NCIDQ in Vancouver and obtain RID status. Tom was known for his infectious laugh, unwavering enthusiasm, and boundless optimism. He is remembered as a bright, cheerful presence, and, most of all, a very good friend to the design community.
