KPU at the Museum of Vancouver: Driving the Happy City Machine Forward

KPU Interior Design faculty members recently partnered with the Museum of Vancouver (MOV) for a month-long lecture series called Design Sundays. The talks sought to engage local community in topics such as Laneway Housing, Designing With Density and the Ergonomics of Urban Living.

In addition to the lecture series, KPU Interior design students also participated in the Happy City Machine. This event marked the launch of a brand new book by Charles Montgomery called Happy City: Transforming Our Lives Through Urban Design. The book addresses the need to foster stronger social interaction in a “not-so-social” world. KPU students worked in teams to develop social experiments that were later tested with members of the general public. Highlights included Jumbo Jenga, Talking feet and the Public Jam Session. All things considered, November marked a fabulous month of community engagement.
