For the past several years, beginning in 2001, the SDA and the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) have coordinated the industry report. In 2010, the partnership expanded to include IDC, and various other associations related to design and architecture, from across Canada.

The survey concludes that 81 per cent of firms pay professional association memberships for their full-time Registered/Associate member employees, where as 91 per cent of Intern/Provisional members have their association fees paid. In addition, out of the 147 reported positions of senior interior designers, the average national salary at the top end is $135,000. Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia are among the provinces with the highest paid senior interior designers.
