New IDC bursary available for emerging professionals

Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and Bob’s Your Uncle Design (BYU Design), owned by IDC past-president and Registered Interior Designers, Ada Bonini and Cheryl Broadhead, are pleased to announce the IDC BYU Design Bursary for emerging professionals. The Bursary is available annually to one or more individual who is unable to join their provincial interior design association due to financial need, and is available to recent graduates of an IDC recognized interior design program.

“We’re delighted to provide future interior designers with financial assistance at such an important stage of their career,” says Ada Bonini. “Costs can really add up between the transition of finishing school and finding your first job, and we’re pleased that this Bursary will help make professional membership more accessible for a few individuals.”

“IDC thanks BYU Design for their contribution to the continued growth of the profession,” says IDC CEO, Susan Wiggins. "We are seeing more and more members donating in this capacity and we are very grateful to Ada and Cheryl for their generosity."

The BYU Design Bursary will be paid in full directly to the provincial association on behalf of the member. To be eligible for the Bursary, applicants must meet the minimum standards of qualification as established by his or her provincial association.

“BYU dedicates significant time and resources to mentoring emerging interior designers,” says Cheryl Broadhead, partner at BYU Design. “This is an important part of our company philosophy and we are thrilled at the opportunity to give back.”

Applicants must complete an application form and answer questions about the importance of professional membership. Applications will be open from November 25 to December 19, 2014. Winners will be announced in January, 2015. Please see the application form for full entry guidelines.
