Canada’s National Interior Design Association Appoints New Representatives

Interior Designers of Canada (IDC), the national advocate for interior design professionals, announced the appointment of seven new directors to the IDC board of management at its Annual Meeting, held September 21 at Toronto’s Direct Energy Centre. IDC welcomes incoming association president David Gibbons of CLWG Facility Planning & Design Inc., Ottawa, alongside this year’s new directors.

A long-time member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), Gibbons brings years of association experience to his new role.

“I am pleased to be taking on the role of IDC president,” says Gibbons. “I look forward to working with members and staff to forward IDC’s mandate to promote the profession of interior design locally, nationally and internationally.”

Having completed her term as IDC President, Donna Assaly of Assaly Interior Design Inc., Edmonton, will assume the role of IDC Past-President. Ada Bonini of Bob’s Your Uncle Design Ltd., Vancouver, has been named IDC’s first Vice-President. Bonini has served as a Director for the past two years.

Joining the board are Directors Denise Ashmore of projecttwentytwodesign 22, BC, Kimberley Murphy of Kim Murphy Design, NB, and Anne-Marie Legault, QC; Director, Industry, Meryl Dyson of Shaw Contract Group; Director at Large Peter Heys of IBI Group, ON; and Director, Intern, Nicole Cormier of Architecture 200 Inc., NB.

IDC’s Annual Meeting took place as part of the IDC-owned tradeshow IIDEX Canada, the nation’s largest exhibition and conference for the built environment.
