Like its successful ‘sister’ European events in Barcelona, Stockholm, Zurich, Paris, Rome, Milan, Vienna and Berlin, this leading edge design event will - over two information-packed days - showcase the latest innovative products, materials, applications and services which have passed stringent judging by a panel of leading Canadian architects and interior designers. Every product and service profiled at the show will therefore be less than two years old.

IDC has partnered with ARCHITECT@WORK Canada to deliver a select number of educational opportunities, mirroring the themes of innovation, creativity and opportunity to grow your business.

These CEUs will include optimum social media strategies and techniques to grow your business, with digital marketing specialist, podcasting pioneer and author Donna Papacosta.

As well, renowned building code and fire protection specialist Les Muniak will deliver an exclusive demonstration of 'The Building Code Tutor'.  This newly-launched online, interactive, instructional program provides practical training, delivered in easily-digestible units, which address the fire and life safety requirements of Part 3 of the Building Codes used across Canada.

    1 - 2 p.m.| 1 IDCEC hour (HSW)

The Building Code Tutor is a web-based instructional program, developed by experienced consultant and instructor Les Muniak, that provides practical and interactive training in the fire and life safety requirements of Part 3 of the Building Codes used across Canada. The Building Code Tutor comprises a series of short, online, interactive lessons that can be watched at any time. Each lesson explores a specific aspect of the Building Code and facilitates learning through modular, visual text and audio media in which participants control the pace. In this special presentation, Les will walk attendees through one example module discussing two key safety issues - specifically, flame spread ratings and smoke developed classification, how these impact interior finishes, skylights, light diffusers and lenses, plumbing fixtures, walkways and elevator cars. Upon completion, the Building Code Tutor program provides documentation that can be submitted to obtain structured learning credits.

Renowned Building Code and fire protection specialist and consultant Leszek Muniak brings over 35 years expertise of the Building Code and fire protection profession. He has served on Ontario and National Building Code committees, developing provisions for fire safety in the renovation of existing buildings, and  now specializes in the development and presentation of building code related seminars and courses - including the newly-launched on-line Building Code Tutor e-course. Les has acted as a consultant in building code and fire protection for hundreds of projects for a wide variety of clients, delivering specialist expertise in the application of Building Codes, fire safety principles and innovative design approaches. He has also developed fire analysis computer techniques, conducted fire investigations, acted as a consultant for legal counsel and developed and presented building code training courses.
