Deadline to register online: June 8, 2015

Please note that there will be an additional charge of $25 for registration at the door.

In this two-hour seminar, attendees will review the quintessential terms for interior designer engagement contracts. By understanding what should be included in your legal contract, besides fees and charges, this presentation will help you and ultimately your client, understand the agreement and each individual's responsibilities to help the project stay on track.

Learn about the importance of a comprehensive proposal, the terms confirming the standards for changes and acceptance, intellectual property rights, as well as warranties and representations. Client responsibilities, the relationship of the parties, terms and termination clauses, confidentiality issues and liabilities will all be outlined and defined.

Robert is an enthusiastic lawyer at Wilson Marshall with specializations in corporate commercial law and IT, IP and e-commerce law. Robert, like many of us, took a circuitous route to get to Victoria; growing up in the peace country, studying at the University of Alberta, working in Taiwan for over six years where he developed his mandarin language skills, then setting up businesses in Calgary, Edmonton and finally Victoria. He brings his almost 20 years experience as a business owner in Taiwan and Canada to the firm and a strong belief in the capability of local businesses to compete in the global market.

While studying law in Australia, Robert developed an intense interest in the rapidly evolving legal issues that the internet and online interactions create for businesses and individuals. He has researched extensively in various areas of the field and has had papers published in legal journals discussing copyright in virtual worlds and on ICANN's new TLD plans. Even more interesting to him is the real world application of theory to internet relationships in real life as well as the growth of gaming and game dynamics in many aspects of our life.
