    OPTION 1: Construction Code: Design solutions for compartmentation (2 IDCEC hours + HSW)
    Delivered in French - Level: Intermediate

    This training is based on the National Building Code of Canada, 2010. This seminar aims to review and improve knowledge of building compartmentation and relevant Construction Code compliance requirements, including:

    • Understanding the reasons behind the regulations;
    • Learning to use an analysis process;
    • Differentiating application areas of Part 3 and Part 9 of the Code;
    • Understanding the contents of Part 3 and Part 9 as they apply to compartmentation;
    • Identifying the compartmentation requirements of individual buildings;
    • Determining the fire protection rating of different fire separations required for building compartmentation and closures required in these fire separations.

    Presenter: Nicole Olivier, Arch.

    Nicole Olivier has been an architect since 2004 and a technical consultant at Technorm inc. since June 2007. Her expertise is analyzing the application of regulatory requirements for construction and fire safety projects that are in the conceptual stage. Since 2008, she has participated in a building safety course at the School of Architecture at the University of Montreal, and has also provided ongoing training to Contech and the Order of Architects of Quebec. She participates in the advisory committees of the Building Board of Quebec on the development of the new regulations of the Building Code and Safety of Quebec.

    OPTION 2: Panel discussion between Interior Designers & Architects - Competitiveness, yes, but at what cost? (2 IDCEC hours)
    Delivered in French - Level: Intermediate

    To evolve in a more and more competitive market, a company will inevitably have to make some tough decisions: the size and the location of its office, the number of employees, the type of customer relationship, and the quality and quantity of projects that will be accepted.

    These decisions will gradually transform the company and will sometimes even go as far as radically modifying the business model to answer the new requirements of the market. But to what extent do we have to modify, even sacrifice, the vision of a company? Do we inevitably have to grow to remain competitive in 2015? Are the big firms from Quebec really in competition with the firms of smaller size?
