    IDC Seminar: Brush Up on The Building Code (3 IDCEC hours + HSW)

    This three hour seminar will focus on the safety requirements within floor areas in buildings covered under Part 3 of the 2010 National Building Code. The main areas will be means of egress, exits, occupant loads, interconnected floor spaces, mezzanines, public corridors, suites, fire stopping, closures and locking of doors in exits and access to exits.

    Gerard completed his senior matriculation at Montague High School in PEI and took a two year Construction Technology course at Holland College.  For almost 20 years, his construction experience was mostly heavy construction and the projects spanned across all Atlantic provinces.  In 1988, Gerard was hired by the City of Halifax as an Assistant Building Inspector and became Level 2 Certified in 1996.  Gerard retired from HRM in 2009 and was hired by the Province of Nova Scotia as the Assistant Building Code Coordinator where he presently works. In 1993 Gerard became a Building Code Training Facilitator and has facilitated training courses ever since.
