    Seminar #1: Building Code, Accessibility and Beyond in Manitoba
    1:15 – 2:15 P.M. I (1 IDCEC  hour + HSW)

    The shift in societal needs and regulatory requirements for accessibility within the built environment are changing in Manitoba. How does this affect the practice of interior design? This presentation will present an overview of the amended regulatory requirements of the Manitoba Building Code and the potential influences of The Accessibility for Manitobans Act on the profession. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights and other projects will be used to illustrate the need to "go beyond the code".

    Brian has completed studies in industrial design and business management. He has specialized in functional design for product and the built environment with respect to issues of disabilities, aging and universal design for over 25 years. Everton has also participated in projects such as the Winnipeg Airport Redevelopment and the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, as well as single family dwellings.

    Seminar #2: Creating Healthy Living Environments
    2:30 - 3:30 P.M. I (1 IDCEC hour + HSW)

    This one hour seminar provides an overview of sustainable design and the creation of healthier environments in reference to architectural paints. Included are discussions regarding the components of paint; independent testing methods and standards; categories of LEED®; and specification of paint systems for today’s designer.


    The world of colour and design has been part of Gloria's career since graduating from Ryerson University in Fashion Merchandising and working in the Fashion industry for 11 years, designing clothing lines for major retailers across Canada and the States. As her family grew, she started an interior design business, working from home. After running her design business for 16 years, transitioned to Benjamin Moore as their Architect and Designer Representative, and now as their Design Program Specialist.

    Seminar #3: The History of Solid Surfacing
    3:45 – 4:45 P.M. I (1 IDCEC hour + HSW)  

    This one-hour seminar addresses the history of solid surface, manufacturing processes, product and sustainability attributes and how these affect the performance and use of the product.  Explore the textures and edge treatments for design versatility.  Learn how to evaluate test procedures and industry standards. There will also be a review of common and surprising uses of solid surface that affect the health, safety and welfare of occupants in both residential and commercial environments.
