IDC Tour: Bloor West Dental Group (1 non-IDCEC hour)

Deadline to register is Monday, October 27.

A trip to the dentist’s office is not always on people’s 'most-wanted’ activity list, but this ARIDO award-winning project is a must-see!

From the outset, Bloor West Dental Group wanted to create a new dental experience that provided a pleasant and uplifting environment to help alleviate patient anxiety – a tranquil ambience filled with natural light and natural materials that was a stark contrast to the medicinal and sterile spaces typically associated with dental clinics.

The design solution involved an extensive renovation to an existing commercial in-fill building on Bloor Street in Toronto. The program included eleven operatories and hygiene rooms, a waiting/reception area, a staff room and offices. The facility is also equipped with the most advanced dental technology available. The decision to renovate the existing building rather than demolish and rebuild, played a major role in reducing the impact on the existing site and the amount of materials used.
