This seminar explores integrated modular design and construction and the recent advances in technology that make it possible to integrate several modular systems at once. These systems address environmental and HSW concerns while speeding up design and construction processes and achieving cost savings.  They are agile, the technology is easily integrated and construction waste is virtually eliminated.  Learn more about this next generation of building construction and how it integrates with other building software and processes.

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. AGILE INTERIORS IN HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTS by Heather Morgan (1 IDCEC hour - HSW)
Dramatic changes in healthcare demands and delivery, cost factors and green building requirements are having a profound impact on the development of healthcare facilities.  With changes difficult to predict, new buildings must be designed to be flexible and adaptable. Accommodating human factors is paramount for patients, staff and visitors, which gives nursing staff more control over their environment.  Modular solutions meet these objectives, reduce the incidence of infection and allow for product-neutral modular selections.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m.  CHANGE MANAGEMENT by Stacey Pediny (1 IDCEC hour)
Change is inevitable but its success is determined by how we embrace and deploy it. This presentation discusses the basics of developing a change management program, the steps for implementing change within an organization, and the key factors for success.

1:30 to 2:30pm – RISE OF THE HUMAN FACTOR by Stacey Pediny (1 IDCEC hour)
During the past four years, we have been so focused on reducing cost, the impact of technology and making our buildings sustainable that we are forgetting who we are designing for -- people. Many office-based workers are not living healthy lives today. True, greener buildings are healthier for the occupant but that is not enough. Sitting stagnantly at a desk and staring at a computer all day is killing us faster than anything else. Distractions, the constant "pinging" of technology, and the lack of privacy are negatively impacting productivity. We need to refocus on the worker, on getting them engaged and empowering them to move business forward today. A new movement is afoot to do just that.

Stacey, is the territory manager of the  Prairie Region for Teknion Limited, has a background in interior design and over 20 years in the interior projects business. Stacey believes in approaching a project in an educational, evolutionary way, and that great design is a process of discovery, and should start with a need and end with the solution.
