Vancouver: Get Enlightened (up to 3 IDCEC hours)

Three one-hour lighting seminars for interior designers!  Join fellow IDC members and colleagues for lunch and networking, followed by an afternoon of learning. Attend one, two or all three seminars and earn IDCEC hours!

    12:30 to 1:45 p.m. | Seminar #1 Quality of the Visual Environment
Lighting design has evolved well beyond product specifications and lighting calculations. Great lighting design merges the art and the science of lighting into a work of art. The IESNA has a formal system for considering a wide range of lighting design criteria. By taking into account the critical issues in each space and melding the aesthetic aspects, the designs can be fabulous to look at while being functional and comfortable to the people in the space.

    2 to 3:15 p.m. I Seminar #2: Healthy Lighting for Senior Living
As we age, the physical and aesthetic manners in which we see are altered. A mature eye requires more light to function while being increasingly more sensitive to glare. The session will discuss some of the physiologies of this change and explore avenues to combat the changes in both institutional and residential applications. Awareness, empathy and knowledge are the keys to lighting solutions for the aging eye.

3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  | Seminar #3 The Information, Knowledge, and Techniques to Help Navigate the Truths, Myths, Misconceptions and Lies about LEDs
LED technology has been rapidly advancing and has offered exciting new options in providing illumination for many applications.  There is a systems approach to the manufacturer of LED luminaire which requires an understanding of the performance benefits, allowing the lighting specifier to separate myths from realities when applying LED luminaires to their applications.

4:30 to 6:30 p.m. I Herman Miller and Workplace Resource invites you to join them for wine and cheese afterwards at the showroom, located across the hall from the seminar room.
