Mission 2030: A Zero Building Waste Initiative Official Launch, Press Conference & Workshop

    DATE:   February 19, 2013

    TIME:   8:30 to 4:30

    LOCATION:   Evergreen Brick Works, Toronto

While history, together with leading organizations warn us that 'economic growth and social development cannot be sustained with our current consumption and production patterns, the industrial, commercial and institutional (IC&I) waste continues to grow, and is expected to double by 2025. The Construction Resources Initiatives Council was founded with the intent to integrate all stakeholders, and create a body of knowledge which would serve as a support system for early decision makers in reducing their overall volume of IC&I waste, starting with construction, renovation and demolition (C&D) stream. The council is a non-profit organization, an Architecture 2030 Adopter, as well as an official partner of the UNEP-GPWM (United Nations Environment Programme-Global Partnership on Waste Management) led by the Division of Technology, Industry & Economy.

It is with great pleasure, that IDC members are invited to join, along with other event partners the Greater Toronto Chapter CaGBC (Canada Green Building Council)Ryerson University – Architectural Science, and many others in Mission 2030, the quest for zero building waste, and better built environments.

Speakers will include leaders from Brookfield Lepage Johnson Controls; PCL Constructors Canada; UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and many others.

This special day will begin with a press and industry conference on the reasons for industry changes, and the general change strategy adopted; followed by a 'learner-centered' type workshops / break-out groups, addressing: Change Strategy, Communications, Integration/Education, Research/Technology and Tools/Support.
