MAXIMIZING TILE INSTALLATION WITH TRIM PROFILES
    11 a.m. - 12 p.m. | 1 IDCEC hour

Manufacturers produce a variety of beautiful and durable tiles, but the availability of coordinating trim pieces can be limited. This has led to the development of a wide range of trim profiles. This seminar will focus on how trim profiles improve the integrity of tile installations and increase the versatility of tile in various applications, including floors, walls, countertops, and more.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

    • Identify tile trim profiles and understand their basic design and function.
    • simon.jpgUnderstand how to incorporate trim profiles into specific ceramic tile and dimension stone tile applications, including floors, walls, countertops, and more.

PRESENTER: SIMON DAOUST, ARCHITECTURAL REPRESENTATIVE, SCHLUTER SYSTEMS CANADA INC.

Simon spent 8 years at a tile distributor in Montreal as an Architectural and commercial manager in the Montreal area and now 3 years at Schluter Systems as the Architectural and commercial manager for eastern Canada ( Quebec & Maritimes).

    COMMERCIAL SPACE PLANNING
    1 - 2 p.m. | 1 IDCEC hour (HSW)

During this one hour presentation, you will develop an overview of primary egress and fire protection requirements, based on the 2015 Quebec Construction Code (CCQ). Familiarize yourself with the common application requirements for multiple tenant floor areas focusing on office occupancies, as well as pertinent definitions of NBC terms. Brush up your knowledge on fire separations, public corridors, suite egress, travel distance, cross-over provisions, and barrier-free protection on floor areas.

    TEXTILE APPLICATION ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS
    3 - 4 p.m. | 1 IDCEC hour (HSW)

In the world of commercial interiors – especially in high-traffic environments such as hospitals, hotels, schools, etc. – it’s inevitable that textiles will experience wear-and-tear. While most contract textiles are designed to withstand a great deal of abuse, many fabrics fail prematurely resulting in unforeseen replacement costs and unhappy clients. But why do some textiles that have high performance characteristics fail in the field, and is there anything you can do as a specifier to prevent these unwanted application nightmares? You bet! This CEU will examine several of the most common textile application issues and why they occur, as well as offer some practical steps you can take as a specifier to help ensure you select the right product for the right application every time.

    PRESENTER: LOUISE COTÉ, ARCHITEX

louise.jpgLouise Coté is an accomplished textile consulted in both commercial and luxury residential markets. Before joining Architex as their inaugural Market Manager for Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, Louise was Director of Sales and Marketing for TÉLIO Home Furnishings (now known as Theo Canada), where her accomplishments include launching Hermès new line of fabrics and wallpapers across Canada. Her sales and marketing career started within the television and electronics industries in Toronto, New York City and Los Angeles, before finding her true passion in fabrics within the A&D community in Montreal. Louise’s expertise is now called upon by schools of Interior Design, such as Le CEGEP de Vieux Montreal, where she provides an introduction to textiles seminar to their 2nd year students.
