Elizabeth Stewart says, "After practising interior design for 14 years, I became a marketing vice president for a financial services firm. Strange, but true. Even stranger, I left that role – big title, great salary, lots of travel and all – six years later to return to the design world I love. But what I brought with me was a solid understanding of the business skills in which designers are not trained and with which we so often struggle. My mission is to help design firm principals achieve success through smart, consistent marketing.”

As a consultant to design firms, Elizabeth has been a guest speaker and seminar leader on marketing principles and techniques for ARIDO, IIDEX, Society of Design Administration Canada, Ontario Association of Architects and other groups. She also created and conducted custom-designed workshop programs on marketing for partners and staff of A/E firms. She teaches at the Ryerson University’s Design Management program, where she was honoured with an Instructor of the Year award, and formerly taught at the Women’s Entrepreneurship program, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.

Elizabeth was a founding member of the Group for Design in Business, where she launched and managed the Financial Post Design Effectiveness Awards (now the Design Exchange Awards). She was nominated for the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award in 1988 and again in 1992. Her career and entrepreneurial approach are featured in the best-selling book, In The Company of Women by Katherine Gay, HarperCollins.
