KEYNOTE ZAHRA EBRAHIM

PRINCIPAL, FOUNDER
As the founder and principal of the design think tank, archiTEXT, Zahra Ebrahim uses her extensive experience to bring together diverse groups to tackle the intersections of where design and social change meet. For the past six years, she has taught at the Ontario College of Art and Design and has led innovative projects with some of Canada’s largest charities and governing bodies.




SPEAKER STUART M. REID

CANADIAN ARTIST AND PROFESSOR
Stuart Reid was born in London Ontario. He studied with Paterson Ewen, Greg Curnoe, Richard DeMarco, Patrick Reyntiens and Joseph Beuys. He holds a B.A. (fine arts ) from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Architecture from UCLA. He is a professor at OCAD University. His many major public artworks include works for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Intercontinental Toronto Centre, Salzburg Congress. His artwork at St. James' Cathedral was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth in July 1997. He is the great nephew of the early Canadian painter G.A.Reid.

JENNY SMITH

PRESIDENT & CREATIVE DIRECTOR
With almost 20 years in the advertising and marketing business, Jenny is no stranger to creating internationally recognized, award-winning advertising. She’s ranked one of the top creatives in Canada and is the region’s most decorated creative person, with literally hundreds of gold national and international awards. She has judged every major advertising award show in Canada. In 2009, she had the honour of representing Canada on the radio jury at the Cannes Festival of Creativity. And she’s the only woman east of Toronto to win a coveted gold Cannes Lion. Jenny is regularly featured in and writes for national industry publications including the Globe & Mail, Marketing Magazine, Strategy, Progress and Applied Arts. She also sits on the Board for Artistic Fraud and Business and Arts NL. Jenny lives in St. John’s with her husband and two children, who like some of her work.
