Powell & Bonnell makes a 'Grand Entrance' at Kips Bay Decorator Show House

Each spring a New York City townhouse is transformed, within just a few weeks, into an elegant design and decoration exhibition. Powell & Bonnell were selected to participate and make over the entryway, foyer and gallery of this year’s show house; a Neo-Georgian mansion built in 1905 by noted architect Charles A. Platt. “Being selected for this internationally recognized premiere event is a great honour, especially as the only Canadian design firm,” said Fenwick Bonnell (IDC, ARIDO, ASID).

Discover Powell & Bonnell’s masterful mingling of traditional architecture and contemporary design. Rather than strip away the character of existing well conceived details of the house, they pay respect to its Neo-Georgian roots by maintaining the best of its traditional envelope as it unfolds from the entrance, through the foyer and gallery. A clever injection of an eclectic mix of contemporary detail and custom furnishings establishes a subtle but dramatic layering of old and new.
