IDC supports Canadian design research

Published by Patrick Voisin, August 23, 2016.

Back in February 2015, IDC announced a contribution of $10,000 over a two-year period to InformeDesign®. The mission of InformeDesign® is to facilitate interior designers’ use of current, research-based information as a decision-making tool in the design process, thereby integrating research and practice in an evidence-based design approach.

With IDC’s funding, the goal is to highlight research, achieve higher Canadian visibility, and increase collaboration among researchers, practitioners, educators, students, and industry professionals.

By increasing collaboration among these groups and by facilitating the use of research as a tool in the interior design process, design professionals will increasingly be able to use an evidence-based design approach to improve the quality of their design solutions, enhance the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and support sustainability.
