Published by Candis Green, August 29, 2013.

Toronto-based firm WZMH Architects has been shortlisted for a 2013 Inside Award for their design of Nova Scotia Power Corporate Headquarters in the category of Creative re-use.

Located on the western edge of the Halifax harbour, the project uses an innovative construction strategy that involves the reuse of the existing steel structure and exterior concrete cladding where possible, in conjunction with the insertion of floors within the existing volume.

This past March, the project received LEED Platinum certification. figure3 also received an ARIDO Award for the project in 2012.

INSIDE honours the most extraordinary interiors of the past year, sharing them with the world and celebrating their creators.

All finalists are invited to the World Architectural Festival (WAF) in Singapore October 2 to 4, 2013.  Finalists will have exposure to hundreds of clients, press and peers from around the globe, including INSIDE’s grand jury members Nigel Coates, Nigel Coates Studio; Lyndon Neri, Neri&Hu; Odile Decq, ODBC and Rob Wagemans, Concrete.
