Winners of the Home Sweet Home Student Competition announced

Published by Julia Salerno, April 27, 2011.

Launched at the IIDEX Green Building Festival last September, Ontario Green Spec created a Student Challenge inviting Ontario post-secondary students to design a "marketable" green home for a hypothetical client. The challenge encouraged students to research the latest green building methods and technologies and to design a home that is not only environmentally preferable, but one that is stylish, cost-effective, and marketable on a large scale. IDC proudly collaborated with Ontario Green Spec to help promote interior design in green building initiatives.

First Place winners: Adrian Brett, Dayna Mailach, Laura Winger, and Brandon Mark of Queens University.

Second Place winners: Kathlene McGuinness, David Schaffer, Simone Ferkul and Charlene Genno of Ryerson University, School of Interior Design and Humber College (Sustainable Energy and Building Technology).

Third Place winners: Kim Lammers, Paul Bourbeau and Dorothy Abola, Alexandra Birtwistle, Sebastian Orduz, and Kyle Skerritt of Algonquin College.

Congratulations to all student participants!
