RING Award winners announced

Published by Julia Salerno, April 29, 2011.

One Canadian design firm was recognized at this year's RING Awards (IC @wards), an international competition that aims at promoting interior design as an important aspect of everyday life and encourages professional standards and ethics amongst interior design practitioners. The Awards were adjudicated by an international panel, which included IDC president, David Hanson, and boasted one Canadian winning design firm. IDC is a proud supporter of the RING Awards and sponsored the program.

Award winners are selected from a rigorous three rounds of judging, which took place from January 9 to February 10. The winners were then announced at a Gala Dinner Presentation, held April 18, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency, Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui. Mr. Hanson was honoured to be invited to be one of the presenters at the gala. From the selections of finalists, each of the 14 categories garnered honourable mention and silver award winners as well as one gold prize winner in each category. Both the runners up and the winners of each category receive opportunities and involvement in projects recommended by the organizer as well as information exchanges with foreign design institutions. The ceremony was an Academy Awards style presentation with entertainment, a celebrity MC and media coverage by TV stations from all over mainland China.

Congratulations to Dan Menchions and Keith Rushbrook, of II by IV Design Associates, who won a Silver Award for their project "Chairman's Suite" in the Clubs Category and a second Silver Award for their project "Donato Salon + Spa," in the Commercial Category.
