ARIDO AGM's a great success

Published by Julia Salerno, April 27, 2011.

The ARIDO Chapter AGM's, which took place over the last few weeks of April, were a great success! Special thanks to Ian McIntosh of Entertaining Interiors who presented a CEU on Planning for Residential Electronic Systems at two AGM's. The seminar outlined the duties and functions of an electronic systems contractor (ESC) and were well-received by everyone present.

The WOC Chapter is still looking for a President and President-elect to head up this year's Board. If you think you've got what it takes to be WOC's next President/President-elect, please contact Deb Abreu for more details at dabreu@idcanada.org.

Langdon Hall was once again host to GVC's Annual General Meeting. The evening began with members re-connecting over a tasty buffet. GVC's business meeting included a review of 2010, introductions to new Chapter President-Elect Karen Wilson and new Student Intern rep Erika MacKay. New President, Betty Allensen, encouraged input from our membership on events we‟d like to see come to GVC. Congratulations were also presented to Sarah Turner, Laura Strawbridge and Patricia Truska for successfully passing the NCIDQ exam and becoming Registered Interior Designers! Executive Director Susan Wiggins reviewed the ARIDO AGM and showed us a great video tour of ARIDO's new space in Liberty Village in Toronto. Susan also clarified questions on the restructuring of ARIDO and IDC and how both are working for our members.

The GTA Chapter AGM was held at the new, 400,000 sq. ft., Corus Entertainment building, where the Quadrangle team, Caroline Robbie; Vera Gisarov; and Brian Curtner; along with Corus Entertainment VP Finance and Administration, Facilities, Julie Edwards, discussed the building's innovative design. GTA's meeting recapped the Chapter's successful events from 2010 and promoted the many fun events to come.

As you all know, EOC is a maverick when it comes to Annual General Meetings! This year's AGM was of no exception. This April, EOC members took part in an expanded AGM day where sponsoring showrooms around the city were open for members to visit and reacquaint themselves with our local silver sponsoring showrooms of Capital Office Interiors, Contract Furniture Source, Flux Lighting, Haworth, Mammark, Teknion, Global, Helen Chambers, and Studio S. Scavolini. This self-guided ‘crawl' started at noon and ended at our gold sponsor's showroom ASTRO Design Centre for the AGM meeting, showroom tour, and some food and drinks. The EOC chapter urged its members to get out of the office on April 28th and got product-inspired! EOC this year gave a little time back to these great local companies who continue to support our chapter throughout the year. Thank you to all of the sponsors for making the AGM a huge success!

The SOC AGM was cancelled due to extreme wheather conditions. Watch your inbox for rescheduled event details to come.
