Herman Miller acquires Maharam

Herman Miller Inc. has announced that it acquired Maharam Fabric Corp. Based in New York with 250 employees, Maharam was acquired for approximately $156 million.

According to Mark Schurman, director of corporate communications at Herman Miller, Maharam will retain its independence as a brand as well as its operational independence in design, marketing, sales, and distribution in all markets.

In a statement, Brian Walker, Herman Miller’s CEO, said, “The combination of Herman Miller and Maharam is a natural and complementary union anchored in our shared values and built on years of business cooperation and personal friendship. Our respective and combined operational strengths and resources provide immediate, mutual strategic leverage.”
