2012 Special Feature #2: Retail Design Expo: YSMELL

The Retail Design Institute, Toronto Chapter in collaboration with guest curator, Tracy Pepe of Nose Knows Design will present The YSmell Project, a special feature exhibit in the 2012 Retail Design Expo. This exhibit will showcase the top ten finalists of a new store design competition launched in 2012 by RDI Toronto for 3rd and 4th year Ontario students of interior design and architecture. The special feature will be complimented by an extraordinary scent display created by Nose Knows Design demonstrating how scent strongly affects consumer behaviour.

The YSmell Project competition challenges the students to create a mall based retail space (clothing, electronics, footwear, sporting goods or jewelry/accessories) targeting the millennia consumer using the unique “scent of GenY.” A panel of noted retailers and retail designers will judge the submissions and the top ten finalists selected will have their storyboards displayed in the exhibit and an award ceremony to present the winning project will take place on the keynote stage.
