International Dialogue at IIDEX

Published by Alexandra Tichinoff, July 30, 2012.

David Hanson, IDC past president and current IFI Executive Board member, is excited to announce that the International Federation of Interior Designers/Architects (IFI) will be debuting the IFI Culture Innovation Design Dialogues (CID Dialogues) at IIDEX.  The dialogues explore design culture on a global level and the philosophy, discipline and practice of interior design and architecture. Moderated by Pamela Young, editor at Canadian Facility Management & Design magazine, the seminar will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, before the IDC Annual Meeting

The dialogues will be held annually in conjunction with design weeks in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Oceania. IIDEX is the first stop for the dialogues. This year’s topic is Emotion, Health and Human Sustainability in the Workplace. Opening the session will be leading regional psychology expert, JT Kostman, PH.D., discussing the psychological and behavioral impacts of the contemporary workplace. Shashi Caan, Principal of The Collective (USA/UK), and IFI President will follow with an international report providing a global perspective on issues of human well-being. A leading member of the office furniture iundustry, Rick Galbraith VP of Sales for Global Group, will be adding his insight to this topic. Two Canadian design leaders will also weigh in as expert respondents, giving a short overview from the local perspective.

Watch your IIDEX emails in August for details on how to register for seminars and learn more about IFI at their booth.
