Submit your healing place photo to IDC

Published by Julia Salerno, July 29, 2011.

Is there a special place that gives you a sense of well being? A place that has helped you through life's trials? Whether your special spot is alone in a quiet forest, at the end of a dock at sunrise, on a sunny beach or on a misty mountain top, it could help the families of seriously ill children begin the healing process.

As part of IDC's pledge to help raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Toronto, we're asking for the participation of Registered and Intern Members. If you have a special "Healing Place", send us a digital image and be part of a great new visual initiative. The top ten photos as juried by a team of interior designers will be framed and exhibited at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada and ultimately become part of Ronald McDonald House Toronto's new home opening in November 2011. Your selected photo will be hung in the new facility to help those in residence - seriously ill children and their loved-ones through their healing journey. Submit your photo and become part of this special contribution on behalf of the interior design community.

The photos will be installed in the House's Quiet Room on the 3rd floor, and on a corridor wall adjacent to the entry to the Quiet Room. The pieces hanging in the corridor will help to "landmark" the location of the Quiet Room in the "public" circulation space. Frames will be 16"x20" in size with vertical or horizontal format.

Rules of the photo submission are:

  • Contest open to Registered Members and Intern/Provisional Members only.
  • Professional photographers are not eligible to participate.
  • Photographs must be the original work of the entrant.
  • All pictures submitted will become the property of Ronald McDonald House Toronto and the top finalist photos could be reprinted to raise further funds for the House.
  • Submissions must be digital via FTP link below
  • Pictures must be high resolution, no smaller than 1500 pixels and no larger than 4000 pixels in dimension on any side and a minimum of 300 dpi.
  • Only selected (short-listed) entries will be framed and displayed for exhibition purposes.
  • By submitting your photo you have accepted the rules on the competition.

Upload your submission to the link below by August 15, 2011.
