Women in Construction seek volunteers for the Second Base Youth Shelter

Women in Construction (WINC) is looking for volunteers and support to help with the makeover of the Second Base Youth Shelter. The shelter while it is basic and functional, currently presents as a non-inspiring environment. WINC is working with Sealy Design Inc. to renovate the communal space for the shelter's residents. The renovation will take into consideration:

1. The functionality of the space while respecting the dining space in relationship to the
kitchen area, and other zones,
2. The need for recreational and education areas and
3. An area for quiet time for the residents and daily drop-ins.

Second Base is the second largest youth shelter in the City of Toronto. The shelter assists youth between the ages of 16 and 21 years by offering 56 emergency beds and food. The shelter provides youth with transportation, counselling, clothing, health support, information and referral to other youth agencies. If you're interested in volunteering, please email info@iwinc.ca.
