IDC & RAIC Join with Starbucks at IIDEX Canada

Toronto, ON – September 26, 2013 - Interior Designers of Canada, with Architecture Canada| RAIC (Royal Architecture Institute of Canada,) are pleased to announce Starbucks as official sponsors of the Emerging Professionals (EP) Lounge and EP programming at IIDEX Canada, September 26 and 27 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.

The Lounge, which was designed by Hudson Kruse Design Inc., will act as a hub for up-and-coming interior designers and architects, as well as all other built environment professionals set to visit the show.

Each year for two days, IIDEX Canada brings together thousands of design industry professionals from across the country and around the world. As the show’s co-presenters, IDC and Architecture Canada | RAIC host these professionals with a place to connect and learn. This year, the Emerging Professionals Lounge is the place for that.

“Starbucks is a hip, progressive company,” said IDC CEO, Susan Wiggins. “Our partnership introduces future interior designers and architects to a company that understands the value of good design as a way to increase market share. We are thrilled to have them on board.”

The EP Lounge and programs include a Twitter-based sketching competition, live social media feeds, charging stations, an emerging professionals keynote speaker – Eames Demetrios, grandson of the iconic furniture manufacturing duo, Charles and Ray Eames – workshops, panel discussions, and a job fair. Freshly brewed Starbucks coffee will be handed out in the Lounge for show-goers to enjoy.

Starbucks regional design studios offer opportunities for emerging Canadian design talent to apply innovative design principles to its stores. Starbucks continues to evolve store designs through a local lens, led by Starbucks regional design studios. Each studio is focused on creating innovative and inspiring spaces that are rooted in sustainable design practices and reflect the character of the neighbourhoods they serve.
